Why I Love Rothy’s Shoes

I discovered Rothys about 4-5 years ago and immediately fell in love. I now have 5 pairs, which is saying a lot. They definitely have become more popular over the past couple of years. I’m sure you’ve seen them all over Instagram and have probably thought, are these worth the $100 plus price tag? Suffice to say, I think they are. I love a well made sneaker or flat, but i’m very particular on what I will spend my money on and above all I want them to be comfortable not just stylish. These check all the boxes. They are super stylish, very comfortable and machine washable!

I randomly stumbled on Rothys and really appreciated their business principles. Rothy’s creates their shoes using recycled plastic water bottles. They are ethically and sustainably made. And the best part… they are WASHABLE. One of my annoyances with shoes, after a while, they loose their newness. Rothy’s can be thrown in the washer and they come out looking brand new! It’s literal magic! Just make sure to follow their specific wash guide, which primarily consists of using COLD water and air drying. Here is their guide to washing your Rothys.

From their site:

“Circularity is the future of sustainability. And what does circularity mean? At Rothy’s, we think of it as a continuous loop that renews itself, from material and manufacturing to product and recycling. Our vision is to use twice-recycled materials in new products—to close the loop, like nature does.”

When I first started purchasing Rothys they only had The Sneaker, The Ballet Flat and The Loafer. They since have extended their styles to more flats, sneakers and boots. I own the sneaker and loafer style. I love that they are so versatile and can be dressed up or down, with dresses, shorts, leggings, jeans, joggers, etc. I wore these all around New York City and never had an issue with pain or the urge to get them off. And when we got home I washed the city right off of them.

I will say that you may need to size up 1/2 a size as they can be a bit tight. I am a true 7.5 in most shoes and I get an 8 in ALL Rothy’s. My first pair I ever got was the ballet flat and I got a 7.5 and it was just too tight. I never wore them so I sold them to a good home on Ebay. I love that these are ready to wear right out of the box. No break in period what so ever. They do a lot of limited release colors too, which is fun. I like staying in my comfort zone and getting neutrals.

These are just the two styles I own and love, but like I said they have a variety of flats, boots, slippers and bags! Check out their site here.

Do you own a pair of Rothys? What styles are your favorite? And if you haven’t tried them and decide to purchase a pair, please let me know what you think!

XO,

Charlene
