Start Saying Affirmations To Yourself

Hi everybody and happy April 1st! Can you believe we are already in April? Spring is now one of my favorite seasons. Living in South Florida all my life, I didn’t fully appreciate the beauty of this season until we relocated to North Carolina and may I just say, wow, I am in love. I hope wherever you live that you are seeing warmer days and beautiful flowers. Get outside and soak it all in. I just finished a book that I really loved and wanted to do a post on affirmations and shifting your mindset.

I firmly believe in the law of attraction and although I have rough days and don’t always say positive things to myself, I quickly make an effort to shift my mindset to a higher vibration. Has this brought all of my dreams to fruition? No, but it certainly moves the needle so to speak. For example, there are days I just want to completely veg out around the house and while that’s okay, there are days I know I need to get moving so that I feel accomplished another day. It’s all about balance.

I like to say “today will be a great day” every single day. Its to the point and pretty simple, right? Just by saying those 6 words and most importantly believing it, I have shifted my mindset. And honestly, I DO have a great day. It’s as simple as that. I have been saying that almost each day for years. Its about choosing to believe that your day will go smoothly and it will be positive. I also like to have a few minutes of complete quite, whether its first thing in the morning or on my ride to work to take deep breaths in through the nose and exhale slowly out the mouth. I will do this about 5-10x and that immediately grounds me and brings me clarity in that moment. My favorite way to do this is outside with the sun hitting my face and my feet in the grass. It feels really nice.

We all have goals or aspirations big and small that we are working on constantly, so say them out loud to yourself and believe it. For example, when I was in the process of creating this blog I would say “I am creating something inspiring, useful and productive for others. I am building a community and I am proud of what I am tapping into”. No one should have more faith in you, than you. Be your biggest confidant and believe anything is possible.

I know some people look at this type of thinking as “woo woo” but, what I have always thought is, this is my mindset, no one else, so why not? Why not say the most beautiful things to yourself? It’s not doing any harm. We easily take pride in saying kind words to others, we should put the same effort, if not more into saying kind words to ourselves as apart of our daily routines. It’s easy to be hard on yourself and compare where you are at with others or think you are not doing enough, but it is just as simple to take a few minutes to give yourself grace and shift your mindset. We all have the time to carve out a few minutes each day to speak highly to ourselves. This process makes me a better person not just for myself, but for the people in my life.

Write down 3-5 affirmations just for you. Big or small. Repeat them throughout the day for a week and see how you feel. Does your mindset change? Do you feel lighter? Don’t over complicate this process, you are just affirming what you already know in your heart. Make it fun and multi-task while you say these things. I like to say affirmations to myself while I am walking, stretching, driving, and laying in bed. You may prefer to write them down or say them out loud. There is no right or wrong.

I just finished reading *Manifest 7 steps to living your best life. This book is wonderful and I think a great way for anyone to dip their toes into the world of law of attraction. There are tons of books out there on this subject that you can choose from. This one is not only a beautiful read, it also makes a gorgeous gift or coffee table book.

I hope you ALL have a wonderful weekend and put some of your affirmations into the universe today. I am no expert on this subject, just a practitioner and someone who has actively worked at being kinder to myself over the years. What I do know is, we all can choose what we say to ourselves each day and I choose to say statements that I want to hear, that make me feel better, and bring me joy.
