3 Things I Do At Night To Encourage A Restful Sleep

I am a routine oriented kinda gal. There are simple, yet effective steps that I do morning and night that help me mentally and physically. Today I am sharing how to improve your sleep with 3 simple habits that I do almost every night that I absolutely adore and truly think elevate my sleep. Of course there are nights these things don’t happen, but I make it a point to do the best I can when I can.

Magnesium water- Calm by Natural Vitality is the magnesium powder I use. Magnesium is an essential mineral that supports bones, muscles, nerves and more. I use it cause not only does it relax my muscles and support sleep, it really helps with restless leg syndrome and leg cramps. If you have ever suffered from restless leg syndrome, you know how irritating and uncomfortable it can. It is a very odd condition that there is not much research on but I do find magnesium very helpful. Also can support regularity if you know what I mean. ;).

I know Stanley’s are all the rage, but I got this Hydroflask tumbler that was half the price and I love it. I really have drank more water with this then I ever have. At night, I will fill this up with lots of ice, water and a scoop of my magnesium. I like to finish this whole thing (320z) while we watch tv.

Mouth Tape- I talk about this more in-depth here, if you are interested in what this is and why I use it. Between my mouth guard for teeth grinding and mouth tape for proper breathing, I can’t go to sleep with out these now. I just wake up feeling so much more rejuvenated and I believe that is due to properly breathing while I sleep. As someone who snores and definitely mouth breaths while they sleep, this has completely stopped that. Last month when I was sick and literally couldn’t breathe through my nose for a week I was not able to use mouth tape and it through me off. I really missed it! The Skinny Confidential just released their mouth tape and of course I had to try it. Luckily, I was able to purchase this cause it sold out twice now. This one is unique because it has a small slit in the center which really comes in handy in the middle of the night when you need to sip some water (with a straw).

It is the most aesthetic mouth tape i’ve seen on the market. You know I love this brand and they never disappoint. The cute metal tin they come in to is so cute and perfect for supplements or jewelry you keep in your bag. You can see in the picture the small slit I was talking about. I usually just just pull it over so there is no slit.

Gratitude Journal- I use the Five minute Journal. It has an morning prompt and an evening prompt. The evening prompt is a great way to reflect on your day. To evaluate what you did, what you should have done, how you felt about your day, etc. It takes less than 5 minutes (hence the name) to jot your feelings down while reflecting on your morning response of gratitude. You can use any journal or a plain notebook. The point is to reflect and write down your daily gratitude. I love going to bed gratitude in my forefront. There is something really serene about being present and truly thinking about what you are grateful for. I write down even the smallest things. When you have that kind of mindset before you go to sleep, it really does shift how you perceive other things in your life.
