Basic And Simple Wardrobe Staples
Hi everybody! Today we are talking about what key essentials you should have in your wardrobe. There are core basics that you can built upon that stand the test of time. These aren’t trendy items, they are essentials. Whether you are a maximalist or a minimalist when it comes to your closet, there are staples that every woman needs in their collection. I am all about comfy/casual looks that I can elevate with accessories. When I find something that I love to wear over and over again, I buy multiples of them.
Let‘s get into it.
TEE SHIRTS
I don’t know about you but, finding the perfect tee shirt is not as easy as it should be. They are either too sheer, poor quality, don’t wash well or don’t have the ideal fit. Some of my go to brands are Madewell, Everlane and Pact. Each of these brands offer different styles, beautiful range of colors, and, various materials to choose from. They wash very well and hold up over years of wear. And the best part is, they are all ethical brands with sustainable practices in place.
PANTS
I pretty much live in pants so I am going to share all the different styles I like. Everyone needs a good pair of jeans in their life. I cannot recommend Levi’s enough. They often have great sales on their site and if you live close to a Levi outlet, definitely check that out too. They are high quality jeans that last years! You can find any style and wash too. My personal favorite is 721 High Rise Skinny and 501 Skinny. I have tried many brands over the years and keep going back to Levi.
Tights/leggings/yoga pants: whatever you want to call these style pants, they are a must have. I love these pants because if you get a flattering style, they can be dressed up or down and, for me inspire me to move my body. Something about yoga pants encourages me to get up and sweat. And we all could use more of that right? Patagonia has two of my favorite styles. The Pact it Out tights and the Centered Tights. These are a little bit thicker and, not see through at all. You can run errands in these, go for a long hike, work out, or add a cute pair of shoes and a blazer and take them out for a cocktail. If I want a fancier pair of tights I wear my Commando velvet pants from Spanx. They are beautiful and class up any outfit. I have also heard amazing things about the faux leather leggings too from Spanx.
Sweatpants are socially acceptable and so fricken cute nowadays and, I am here for it. I found the best fitting sweatpants in the men’s section at Target. Just size down one size. These are affordable, so comfortable and fit so well. Again, these can be for lounging around the house, running errands or jazzed up with a blazer and a cute bag.
SNEAKERS
I love sneakers! They are my go to footwear and so versatile with my personal style. Whether you are someone who runs, takes long walks, or just leisurely out and about you will love all of these brands. All Birds and Rothys: Both of these are made with recycled materials and are washable. A shoe that is washable is game changing, trust me. They offer various styles from flats, slip ons, loafers and traditional runner styles. For my friends that want more of an athletic shoe you got to try Brooks running shoes. I wear these for jogging, work and anytime I am on my feet long hours. These are great shoes for Disney! Your feet and back will thank you.
BLAZERS
Blazers are one of those wardrobe pieces that immediately elevate any outfit. They polish up whatever you are wearing. I love to add a blazer because, for one, I get cold all the time, and two, they have multiple pockets so you can be purse free, if you choose. I have found some really cute, affordable styles at Target and thrifting. I also love The Real Real. If you are looking for luxury designer wear, they offer a huge range of options in many categories. They are an authenticated luxury consignment shop. You can get beautiful pieces for a fraction of the price.
These are some essentials that I go towards on a daily basis. Each of the categories mentioned are so versatile and can be dressed up or down. They are comfortable and cute, which for me, is the most important thing. These are also pieces that will always be in style. They are timeless. Yes, styles change and evolve but, I like to invest in clothing that I can wear years to come. I have tried many brands and styles over the years and know what works best for me and my body. These are brands that I stand behind because I have tried so many. Save this post for the next time you need a new pair of jeans or a tee shirt. I will leave you with this. Trends come and go. At the end of the day, you should dress for what YOU like, what you feel the most confident and comfortable in. Invest in what you love and what makes you feel happy.
On a side note, Sean and I are planning to remodel our entire closet so I will be purging some stuff. Once we start that, I will do a post on the remodeling process. Till next time friends!
See you soon,
XO Charlene
