Lovey Movie To Enjoy During Valentine’s Day

Hi lovelies, I wanted to do a Valentine’s themed post of some sort this week, so I did a poll on my Instagram stories on which post you would like to see, and my favorite love movies won. Nothing beats cuddling up on the couch and watching a good movie. I thought it would be fun to share all my favorite love inspired movies. I like anything that shows the intimate connection between you and another person, dredges up emotion and really gets you into your feelings. Let me preface by saying this is not just a list of romcoms or happily ever afters. My idea of a great love movie encompasses a wide scope of love and all the relationships that revolve around it. I have a mix here between romance, comedy, family, and friendship.

Grab a beverage, a warm, cozy blanket, light a candle and grab some tissues. Or bookmark this page for when you are ready to have a movie night.

BEACHES, 1988

This movie came out the year I was born. My mom and her best friend from college went to the theatre to see this when I was a baby. They told me I was so calm and quiet throughout the movie. It was like I wanted them to have this time to watch it together.

STEPMOM, 1998

First watched this with my mom and we both fell in love. You really feel the boundless love between a mother and her children. Definitely a no mascara, tissues close by kind of movie.

PRACTICAL MAGIC, 1998

I understand the unique bond between sisters, and this movie is a staple. Sisterhood, witches, romance, what is their not to love?

IN HER SHOES, 2005

As an older sister, I felt this movie. Two sisters, very different paths and their undeniable love for one another. A sister’s relationship is like no other.

LEGENDS OF THE FALL, 1994

Brad Pitt is the main character so that should be enough for you to want to watch this, but it's also a classic family story between a father and his sons. The soundtrack is incredible and will give you all the feels.

THE NOTEBOOK, 2004

This movie is the MVP of love stories. I read the book in high school and fell in love with it. The movie does not disappoint. My best friend and I watched this last time she visited and we cried our eyes out. And, I have seen it many times. It just gets you.

ROMEO & JULIET, 1996

A modern twist on a timeless story everyone knows.  I love the Miami beach spin on this, the killer soundtrack, and the direction they took on preserving the old english dialect.

GHOST, 1990

That pottery scene though…

The thought of having your soulmate’s presence with you after death is enough to fall in love with this movie.

PRETTY WOMAN, 1991

The classic tale of a prostitute with a heart of gold. A great story about how two people can change one another for the better.  Sometimes opposites do attract. And proof that sometimes the whole is greater than the sum of its parts.

THE PRINCESS BRIDE, 1987

Proving an amazing love story can transcend age and capture the heart.  The perfect emobodyment of a fairy tale love story.

TITANTIC, 1997

A woman’s heart is a deep ocean, money can’t buy you love and the heart will go on. Now, draw me like one of your french girls. LOL

I LOVE YOU, MAN, 2009

Although this story revolves around an upcoming wedding, the heart of this movie is about true bromance, and shows how important friendship is no matter what stage of your life you are in. It doesn’t hurt that its laugh out loud funny.  No tissues needed.

THELMA & LOUSIE, 1991

The original ride or die friendship story.  Two badass women on life changing journey together. And Brad Pitts in this too guys.

FOREST GUMP, 1994

If only we could all have a Forest in our lives. Showing that even when you haven’t been dealt the best hand, the pursuit of love itself can be an incredible journey, and you never know where it will take you.

MARLEY & ME, 2008

I can’t have a post about my favorite love movies without including this one. The love between an owner and their dog is just magical. Love, in its purest form. This movie shows all the stages of having a dog. I cuddle Zeke non stop whenever I watch this.

At the end of the day, if there is a commonality with my choices, it’s that I gravitate towards the movies that show love in a multi faceted way. From family, friendships, and finding true love. I choose stories that bring out my emotions. I love a good tear jerker. Many of these movies end in tragedy but, I feel like loss defines our love for someone. The old saying is true, we don’t know what you have till it’s gone. Love is a broad term and is defined differently by all of us. These are my choices and opinions.

Take some time this weekend to relax and cuddle up to watch a good movie. You deserve it. Are any of these your favorites too? Share some of yours too.

Happy Valentine’s Day everyone. Tell everyone you love, you love them! See you next week.

XO, Charlene
