Spring Season Skin Care Routine

Hi guys, over the past few months I have dialed into my skincare routine and minimized the products I am using on a daily basis. I absolutely love skincare, everything about it really. I cannot tell you how often I am researching ingredients or reviewing different products. This stems from my overall passion for skincare but, also personal challenges with my skin and finding the right products for me. I’ve had hormonal breakouts since as long as I can remember. I had breakouts as a teenager, that went away for a few years in my early twenties and then back again, in my late twenties, and early thirties. I can say confidently that my skin is clear at this time. I do not solely credit this to just skincare, as I know skin, like our other organs are reflected heavily by our lifestyle choices but, I know that my skincare routine has definitely been an attributing part.

One supplement I have been taking now for almost a year is DIM, which is Diindolylmethane. A compound commonly found in cruciferous vegetables like broccoli, Brussel sprouts, cabbage and cauliflower. I did a lot of research on this supplement before I took it and spoke with my Doctor too. Which I suggest you do the same if you are looking to start a supplement like this. For me, DIM has helped clear up my monthly breakouts so much by balancing my hormones. I take other the supplements too for my general health and will share a separate post on that at another time.

Okay, so lets start with my morning routine. I do not wash my face in the morning. I have dry/combination skin and do not feel the need to use a cleanser in the mornings. I do splash some cold water on my face but that’s it. I found when I was washing in the mornings my skin’s balance was thrown off a bit. After the cold water I apply a facial mist. Currently, I am using Mychelle’s Beauty Facial Mist. It has hyaluronic acid, cactus water and niacinamide, which revives and rejuvenates. I then use my ice roller from The Skinny Confidential. I love this thing so much! I raved about this on my Instagram many times. It is hands down my favorite skin tool. Ice rollers are cold therapy to help de-puff, tone, and calm the skin. It will wake you up! Next, continuing with Mychelle products, I apply their Ultra Hyaluronic Hydrating Serum. With a nourishing blend of Hyaluronic Acid, Sodium PCA, Squalane and amino acids boost moisture levels to soften skin, soothe irritation and neutralize free radicals. Applying this to my cold skin is just heavenly and I look forward to it each morning. I finish up with two products, moisturizer and sun protection. I have been enjoying Mychelle’s Perfect C Pro Lotion. With 12% Vitamin C L-Ascorbic Acid & Vitamin B Niacinamide. I love that this product has two antioxidants packed into it. Its very lightweight and has this golden hue to it, which leaves your skin moisturized, not oily and super glowy! Last, is sun protection and the most important step in the entire routine. I have two favorites that I have used over the years that blend in well and, do not break me out. These are both physical sunscreens. Of course, Mychelle Sun Shield SPF 28 and if I want a higher SPF I use *IS Clinical Eclipse SPF 50. Both of these are excellent choices.

My night routine always starts with a double cleanse. I have been using a basic, gentle facial cleanser from 365, at Whole Foods Market as my first cleanser. I like to use a first cleanse to break down sunscreen, daily pollutants, dirt, oil and any makeup. My second cleanse can now be applied on clean skin and really penetrate and do its job. I am telling you a double cleanse is a game changer and if you have acne prone skin, you should definitely try adding a second cleanse to your routine. You can also use micellar water, an oil cleanse or balm for your first cleanse. My second cleanser is from *IS Clinical. This cleanser is my all time favorite. My esthetician is Florida introduced me to this and I have never looked back. It is a bit pricey for a cleanser but, you truly only need a small amount. It is concentrated and goes a long way. IS Clinical is a medical grade skincare brand and is in Medical Spas, Dermatologist offices and many facial spas. I really like to take the time in the shower after a long day to spend at least a minute massaging my face and getting it nice and clean. This two part step gives your skin a nice, clean canvas to help your other products soak in and do their job properly. I use the beauty mist again and the same hyaluronic serum as the morning. On alternating nights I use Mychelle’s Remarkable Retinal Serum. This retinal in particular is the most potent non-prescription form of Vitamin A (patented-process Retinal) plus Ceramide 3 and Orange Plant Stem Cell. It is extremely gentle, non irritating and does not dry my skin out at all. I follow up with a moisturizer to seal all the goodness in with a couple favorites. Mychelle Supreme Polypeptide Cream and, Naturium Plant Ceramide Rich Moisture Cream. When I have the time, I like to allow the retinal to soak in for at least 30 minutes before applying the moisturizer.

I have tried many skincare products over the years and this routine is my current favorite. I feel like it’s a nice balance of anti-aging, hydrating and exfoliating ingredients that have helped the overall appearance and health of my skin. I love trying new things and will be sure to share new findings with you all. These products are some of my favorites at this time and have really worked for me.
